Note di degustazione
The 2021 Caillou Blanc Talbot is similar to the sample I tasted a few months earlier. Displaying pear and orange pith on the nose, well-defined and focused, this is very appealing. The palate has slimmed down a little in the intervening period, with hints of lychee emerging on the finish. Fine.

Vivid pale gold, restrained in comparison with many vintages of Caillou Blanc in this line up, with a different architecture, showing more grip and freshness. Lychee, white peaches, geen apple, citrus, a cleaner and leaner version of the wine and entirely successful in my opinion. Barrel ferment and aged, 33% new oak, 7 months with two months lees stirring + 7 months bottle ageing before release.
The 2021 Caillou Blanc Talbot was picked September 14–16 and matured in 30% new oak. It has an attractive nose of orange pith and light apricot scents. The palate is well balanced with a pleasing fatness, not amazingly complex, yet the 27% Sémillon lends a lovely honeyed texture on the finish. (13.5% alcohol)

Quality has not necessarily always lived up to this property’s Fourth Growth status, however there have been significant improvements in recent years, with a sustainable focus in the vineyard, and new winery and cellar.
