Note di degustazione
The 2010 Colheita Single Harvest Bual has 92g/L residual sugar and was aged for ten years in old oak casks. Despite encouragement, this is quite straight-laced on the nose and doesn’t feel the need to “come out and play.” The palate is mellifluous on the entry with a lovely texture, very smooth with judicious lemongrass and stem ginger that combine nicely with the marmalade and Clementine notes, but this is just a bit short on the finish. Fine. 2,933 bottles produced.

Tasted from a mini sample bottle. Bual grown on vineyards in Calheta, on the south coast of the island. Aged 10 years in very old oak casks. TA 6.8 g/l, VA 0.6 g/l, RS 92 g/l, pH 3.22. 2,933 bottles released in 2023. Gingernut and sumac-spiced roasted-pecan aromas. Intensely orangey – marmalade, fresh orange zest, candied orange peel, orange liqueur. It's all there, in a thousand tissue-paper-fine layers, interleaved with the most wonderful golden and brown spices – turmeric, cinnamon, nutmeg. There is a soul-song of Zanzibar in this wine: bronze and brass, strings and drums, a taarab orchestra in a glass. (TC)
