Note di degustazione
Smoky red and black fruits, spicy wood, tobacco, and incense notes emerge from the 2022 Château Monbrison, a classy, complete, medium to full-bodied Margaux. I love its overall balance, and it has plenty of mid-palate depth as well as polished tannins. Based on 81% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Merlot, and the rest Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, aged 18 months in barrel, give it 3-5 years and enjoy over the following 15+.

Amazing how many of these Medoc peninsula wines are at 14.5%, although here the 20hl/h yield might go some way to explaining it. Enjoyable, a little squeezed in its tight bilberry and blackcurrant fruits, with spice and dried herbs rather than juice providing the counterpart. Lovely floral wash on the final notes, but this is marked by the vintage.
81% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot. Lustrous crimson. Perfumed. Gentle texture and lots of ripe fruit (not simply sweet fruit) with the tannins well hidden. Not a dramatic wine but very well done without excesses. (JR)
