Note di degustazione
Deep red. Plum, cherry jam and game aromas are lifted by a floral topnote. Very ripe but youthfully clenched, impressing today with its juicy definition and energy. Elegant, airy grand cru with plenty of underlying power. Really opens up and builds on the gripping finish, showing terrific length and subtle lift. But this will need time to express itself.

Rather more earthbound than the Clos Vougeot. Then lot of juice and energy. Not one of the densest but there is great raciness here. Real lift. Good line. Masses of energy here. Very persistent. (JR)
(this and the preceding wines were destemmed in 2009) Good full ruby-red. Captivating aromas of black raspberry, blackberry, licorice, violet and crushed stone. Sweeter and creamier than the Echezeaux; much silkier and more refined. Perhaps most impressive today on the rising whiplash of a finish, which features broad, palate-dusting tannins and a lingering note of bitter chocolate. Very suave, sweet wine, in the style of the year.
Juicy nose. Very dark. Very smooth and polished but a little soulless. Bit of a hole in the middle at the moment? Lots of sweet fruit. Good skein of polished tannins. Really very flattering – almost drinkable! Very sweet and juicy. Then just a little chew on the end. Seems to be made from above rather than below. A very agreeable, well-balanced wine without too much of anything, Excellent balance. But I’m looking for the soil and spark. All destemmed. (One-third whole grape in 2008; unusual to destem more in 2009 than 2008.) (JR)
