Note di degustazione
(from a crop level under 25 hectoliters per hectare, according to winemaker Michel Mallard, who added that this holding is still missing about 20% of its vines from the Engel days): Good medium red, a bit less saturated than the Echezeaux. Highly perfumed aromas of plum, raspberry, dried rose, coffee and musky underbrush, complemented by sexy oak tones. Concentrated, sappy and smooth, with redcurrant, mineral, floral and spice flavors refined by burnished oak tones. Lovely energy and lift and fine tannins on the long aftertaste. Finer and more aromatic than the Echezeaux but not bigger.

NB vintage. Mid ruby. Quite round and animal. I think I prefer the precision of 2011! Very sweet. Lively. (JR)
Good dark red. Black raspberry, black cherry, coffee, mocha and sexy oak tones on the nose. At once brighter and tighter than the Echezeaux, showing more floral lift to the dark raspberry and espresso flavors. The fruit shades more toward red on the high-pitched finish, which features very fine tannins and excellent subtle persistence. As with the Echezeaux, which is also aging in 75% new barrels, this will need some time to absorb its oak.
Very deep colours. Maximum power on the nose and then some wildness, even slight animal character, on the palate. A long-distance runner. Brooding. Needs much more time. Long. (JR)
