The 2018 Vosne-Romanée Les Beaumonts 1er Cru is matured entirely in new oak. It has a more floral bouquet than the Village, and it’s quite intense, although you might argue that the Vosne-Village boasts just as much definition. The palate is well balanced with blood orange, dark plum, hints of blueberry and candied orange toward a detailed, structured finish befitting this noble vineyard. Excellent.

The 2018 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Les Beaux Monts opens in the glass with a brooding bouquet of wild blueberries, cassis, woodsmoke and peonies that's framed by a lavish but nicely integrated application of high-quality new oak. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, muscular and textural, with a deep and layered core, fine-grained tannins and a long, penetrating finish.
