Aromas of raspberries, rose petals, sweet soil tones and warm spices introduce the 2019 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Baudes (Domaine Gagey), a medium to full-bodied, fleshy and elegantly muscular wine with a concentrated core of fruit, ripe tannins and a long, sapid finish. This cuvée is another fixture among the portfolio's highlights.

The 2019 Chambolle-Musigny Les Baudes 1er Cru shakes off a little reduction to reveal more black fruit compared to the Feusselottes, broodier and distinctly marine-influenced. The palate is medium-bodied with a touch of licorice on the entry and a long, sweet finish. There is some oak here to be subsumed, but I like the weight and density in the mouth. Give it three or four years in bottle to absorb the wood.
Cask sample. Weak rim on mid crimson. Nervy Chambolle nose with some ethereal quality. And then an extremely sweet palate. Solidly expressive with flattering fruit and a really very stunning nose. This could be a star. (JR)

Louis Jadot is arguably the most consistent négociant house in Burgundy. It has managed to straddle both the entry-level and fine wine market, while retaining respect in both.
