Inky ruby. A highly perfumed bouquet combines scents of cassis, minerals, cola, lavender and Indian spices, with a vanilla nuance emerging slowly. Conveys a suave blend of richness and vivacity, offering alluring sweetness and intensity to its dark berry liqueur and floral pastille flavors. The strikingly long, penetrating finish repeats the floral note and clings with serious tenacity.

Tempranillo. Produced from the two best locations of this single estate. Ageing for 18 months in French oak. Dark coloured. Very concentrated nose showing super-ripe small black berries and wild fruits. Oak dominates but in a pleasant way. Rich and full Ribera style, modern, with a breathtaking fruit impact. Fully charged with ripe and integrated tannins. It requests time in bottle but has a very good potential ahead. (FC)
The 2010 Maria is a powerful, ripe Tempranillo from two separate plots that were fermented with indigenous yeasts. It’s riper and fuller than the straight 2010 Crianza, with the fruit perhaps a little darker and riper and more toasty and smoky aromas, with plenty of Mediterranean herbs. The palate is full-bodied, with marked tannins, and is slightly drying. It has good fruit and stuffing, but it’s still a little young and should improve with time in bottle. But it’s definitively heavier than the Crianza. 8,000 bottles were produced. Drink now-2022. Alonso del Yerro is in Roa, in Burgos, where they produce ripe, juicy and hedonistic reds with the help of Stephane Derenoncourt, wines that often represent very good value and show the character of Tempranillo from Ribera del Duero.
