Bright, dark red. Very good spicy lift to the aromas of black cherry, dark berries and minerals. In a dense, sappy style but savory and quite tight, showing a strong exotic spice character and terrific inner-mouth energy but much less expansive today than the Charmes-Chambertin. But this wine's saline, very long, vibrant finish shows the spine for a slow and graceful evolution in bottle.

Bright, dark red. Cool, rather medicinal aromas of black cherry and redcurrant. Deeper and silkier on the front half than the Charmes but with plenty of acidity giving the wine very good energy. Finishes saline and oaky, longer and more vibrant than the Charmes. But I still don't find the ripeness or texture of some of the better recent vintages here.
The 2014 Griotte-Chambertin Grand Cru has a clean and precise nose, quite taciturn at first but opening like the Charmes-Chambertin with marine-tinged red and black fruit. But for a Griotte, this is very well behaved! The palate is very well structured with commendable precision, nicely focused, though I would have sought more complexity and mineralité on the finish. Still, this is a fine Griotte, even if it might not be the best ever produced at this address.
