Note di degustazione
The medium to dark ruby-colored 1999 Chambertin has blackberry, spice, violet, and black raspberry aromas. Medium to full-bodied, dense, and firm, this is a licorice, blackberry, and cassis-flavored wine. Its tannin is hard, yet it appears to have enough depth of fruit to ultimately merit a good to excellent rating. Anticipated maturity: 2003-2010. Importer: Weygandt-Metzler, Peter Weygandt, Unionville, PA; tel. (610) 486-0800.

Good full red. Very dark aromas of black cherry and roast coffee. Sweet but penetrating, with bright acidity and subtle fruit and torrefaction flavors. This also has a tendency toward hardness, but the tannins come across as sweeter than those of the Mazy-Chambertin. The estate Chambertin is actually a 50/50 blend of Chambertin and Clos de Beze.
Informazioni sul produttore

Based in Gevrey-Chambertin, this domaine has a long history and impressive vineyards (with over five hectares of Grand Cru), but has long been considered an under-performer. Today, however, the Bouygues brothers (of Montrose and Clos Rougeard) have taken ownership and change is afoot.
