Shiraz plus 31% Mourvèdre. Very deeply coloured. Dark and mineral and a little meaty. Firm and dark but beautifully juicy and long and fresh. Elegant even in youth. Pretty firm on the finish and still a baby. (JH)

The purple/black 2006 Indigene is a blend of 66% Shiraz and 34% Mataro. It offers up aromas of mineral, underbrush, wood smoke, tar, blueberry, and blackberry. Dense, layered, and multi-dimensional, it has enough structure to evolve for 6-8 years and should be in its prime from 2015 to 2030. (69% shiraz and 31% mataro) Glass-staining ruby. A suave, expansive bouquet displays fresh blackberry, cassis, violet, incense and Asian spices. Lots going on here. Broad, fleshy and deep, offering sweet dark berry and cherry compote flavors, with fine-grained tannins adding grip. Impressively balanced and graceful, with excellent finishing clarity and cling.
