The 2022 Roc De Cambes is brilliant and just another richly textured, concentrated, impressive wine from the team at Tertre Roteboeuf. Darker currants, chocolaty oak, cigar tobacco, and graphite are just some of its nuances, and it’s medium to full-bodied, has a pure, layered mouthfeel, sweet tannins, and a great finish. It promises 15+ years of prime drinking.
The 2022 Roc de Cambes remains perfumed and sensual on the nose with black cherries, peony and iris flower alongside a hint of cassis that blossoms in the glass. This has wonderful delineation. The medium-bodied palate has grainy tannins and comes across slightly more toasty than the Domaine des Cambes, leading to a tensile finish of black pepper, sage and graphite. This is the most linear and Left-Bank-fashioned cuvée from the Mitjavile family this year, and it has bags of potential.
