FINE+RARE, Apr 2023

Intense in colour, the nose opens with notes of blackcurrant and raspberry jam. This Pomerol is expressive, with fresh, precise fruit that leads on to a generous and long palate. Deep in colour and dense in concentration, the tannins are both delicate and totally enveloping – but the energy of the attach is complemented by aromatic persistence, retaining the elegance that is typical of this estate. This offers great value for money.

The 2022 Beauregard feels just a little overripe on the nose with hints of prune filtering through the black, plummy fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with gentle grip, firm tannins and a slightly granular texture, with a sweet ’n’ sour finish. Tasted blind at the Southwold tasting in London.

A 100% Merlot cuvée, the 2022 Clos Beauregard is juicy and expressive, showing darker berry fruits, leafy herbs, earth, and chocolate. Focused, medium to full-bodied, and elegant, with good acidity, it has a fresh, vibrant feel. Aged for 12 months in 50% new oak, it should drink well for 10-12 years. Total production: 3,167 cases.

The 2022 Beauregard is tasted from two bottles, the first perhaps with some cork issues. The second is fresher, well-defined and quite showy, with raspberry, wild strawberry and orange liqueur scents on the nose. The palate is medium-bodied, fleshy and ripe with pliant tannins and an outgoing, quite candied mocha-tinged finish.
