The 2020 Gevrey-Chambertin Champs Perrières Vieilles Vignes has plenty of fruit on the nose: black plum and wild strawberry, fine delineation, real focus and drive. The palate is very well balanced, supple tannins, fine acidity, packed full of dark berry fruit, white pepper and sage, fanning out wonderfully on the finish. Excellent.

One of the more generous wines in the range is the 2020 Gevrey-Chambertin Champerrier Vieilles Vignes, a medium to full-bodied, velvety and enveloping wine evocative of cherries, dark berries and sweet spices. It derives from a parcel planted in 1958.
The 2020 Gevrey-Chambertin Champs Perrières Vieilles Vignes has quite a dense bouquet, a mixture of red and black fruit, an attractive floral element that becomes more pronounced with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red fruit, lightly spiced with a touch of candied orange peel towards the finish. Lovely silky texture here. Stylish and quite persistent.
Another concentrated purple colour. The bouquet is quite restrained but there is a wealth of attractive red fruit here, raspberry and alpine strawberry together, then a more savoury finish, a few tannins, no discordant acidity, and good length. A fine Gevrey if not quite the excitement of the Nuits-St-Georges. Tasted: November 2021
