The 2022 Château Teyssier is a smoking good example of this cuvée and is well worth seeking out. Based on 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc, it has a deep ruby/plum hue as well as ripe black cherry and currant-driven fruits intermixed with smoky tobacco and leafy herbs. It's balanced, medium to full-bodied, and textured.

Exuberant, black cherry, kirsch and brambled hedgerow fruit, with sandalwood and grilled earth. Harvest September 15 to October 6, Maltus family owners.
Intense colour, and the intensity continues on the palate, which fully ripe sun-sweetened damson and black cherry fruit, laced with kirsch and crème de cassis. From 45ha of vines, with a large part coming from next to Monbousquet. One of the biggest commercial wines in St Emilion at 400,000 bottles, 3.67ph. Harvest September 15 to October 6, a late finish in the vintage. 20% malolactic and ageing in new French oak, rest of fermentation in stainless steel. One for lovers of an exuberant style.
A blend of 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc, the 2022 Teyssier has a deep bouquet of dark berries and spices. The oak is prominent at this stage. Medium-bodied, the palate is firm, compact and tannic. It’s too oaky and dry for my tastes.
