Note di degustazione
A real success at this address, the 2022 Saint-Georges Côte Pavie exhibits a fresh and complex bouquet of pencil lead, dark berries, cherries and spices. Medium to full-bodied, seamless and fleshy, it's enrobing with good depth at the core, powdery tannins, a lot of energy and a vibrant, perfumed bouquet. Matured for 19 months in a combination of new barrels (30%), one-year barrels (30%) and two-year barrels (40%), this blend of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc rewards patience.

Ripe red and black cherries, spicy wood, graphite, and crushed stone are just some of the nuances in the 2022 Château Saint Georges (Côte Pavie), a richly textured, medium to full-bodied Saint-Emilion that has polished tannins and a brilliant finish. It's easily the finest vintage of this cuvée I've tried, and while it's hard to resist today, it should have 20-30 years of overall longevity and prime drinking. The 2022 checks in as 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc, all of which spent 16 months in just 30% new barrels.
Flowers, black, red, and blue fruits, espresso and crushed stones create the perfume. The wine is medium-bodied, vibrant, soft, fresh, and with a nice, purity of fruits, silky tannins, and sweet, red pit fruits in the spicy, finish. Drink from 2026-2040.
75% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Franc. Cask sample. Sweet start and really rather charming. So svelte and round! With medium acid and tannin to complement that lovely fruit. Not a long-term prospect but very lovely in the medium term. (JR)
