The 2022 Clos Haut-Peyraguey is a step up from the previous wines: dried honey, quince and, finally, a little more precision. The palate is medium-bodied with a waxy texture, low acidity, not as complex as the aromatics alas, with some attenuation on the finish. I was expecting more from this Sauternes estate. Tasted blind at the Southwold tasting in London.

Natural cork closure. Tasted blind. Very floral. A little more freshness than some but less richness and interest. Plus a bit of chew on the end. (JR)
Orange blossoms, honeycomb, ming flowers, and caramelized peach are just some of the nuances in the 2022 Clos Haut-Peyraguey, a ripe, round, full-bodied Sauternes that's balanced, has the vintage's richer, opulent style, and a great finish. It’s beautifully done, and while I love it today, it will clearly evolve gracefully over the coming two decades.
The 2022 Clos Haut-Peyraguey has 157 g/L residual sugar and an attractive nose with finely delineated white peach, saffron and light apricot aromas. The palate is well balanced with a viscous entry, marmalade and peach skin notes with a drop of walnut oil toward the finish. Drink this over the next 20 years.
