2022 Pavillon Blanc du Ch Margaux

Lemon chiffon, lawn grass, pears, vanilla, white peach, and tangerine skin nuances form the core of this wine. The wine is forward, sweet, creamy, and pure, with a buttery accent on the long, fruit-packed, fresh, vibrant backend. The wine will be a pleasure to enjoy on release and over the following decade or longer. The wine is produced from 100% Sauvignon Blanc.13.4% ABV. 3.18 pH. Yields were only 14 hectoliters per hectare, so not much of this wine was made. If you are a fan, act quickly. This is the white wine of the vintage!

I'd say the finest white coming out of the Médoc, and clearly in the top tier of whites in all of Bordeaux, the 2022 Pavillon Blanc De Margaux is, as always, 100% Sauvignon Blanc that was raised in 20% new 300-ltier barrels. It has an incredible nose of honeyed limes, caramelized lemon zest, green almonds, mint, and crushed stone. Medium-bodied on the palate, it has a great mid-palate, vibrant acidity, and a great finish. Sauvignon Blanc doesn't get much better (if at all.)

100% Sauvignon Blanc. 50% of the production (a second wine will be sold at the end of the year). Cask sample. Pale with green flecks. Aromatically intense with citrus and white-fruit notes (the grassy character of Sauvignon absent). Long and linear with refined texture. Vibrant, tense and elegant overall. More than satisfactory in what has proved a difficult year for dry whites.
