Note di degustazione
This is an exotic, generous Le Pin – a real contrast to the more restrained profile of 2021. The nose is heady – with incense, sweet plum fruit, cardamom and florals swirling together. These intoxicating, open aromas contrast with the palate, which is tight and concentrated, with compact tannins and a deep core of dark berries. A wine of serious structure and density, this will need time to unwind – but there’s a fresh, mineral finish that balances the wine’s intensity.

The 2022 Le Pin has a stunning bouquet, beautifully defined with black cherry, espresso and crushed stone. The palate is medium-bodied with pliant tannins, refined and focused, with admirable purity of fruit and a healthy sprinkling of black pepper on the finish. Pure class. Pure Pomerol. Tasted blind at the Southwold tasting in London.
Tasted blind. Curranty nose. A bit dry on the end after a sweet palate. Rather hard work at the moment but with lots of drive. Just a slight lack of fleshy fruit. (JR)
The 2022 Le Pin has turned out very well, retaining impressive energy for such an early-ripening, well-draining site in so warm a year. Offering up aromas of sweet cherries, berries, licorice and violets, framed by a creamy patina of new oak, it's full-bodied, layered and exotic, with a sweet core of ripe fruit, polished tannins and a layered, seamless profile.
