2022 Peymouton

Note di degustazione
Peymouton is made from the younger vines on clay soils at Ch. Laroque – the largest estate in Saint-Emilion. Although sold via Jean-Pierre Moueix, the wine is made by the talented David Suire (as with Laroque). Deep in colour, the nose is vibrant with a touch of sweet oak. There’s a chalky texture, framing the fruit with savoury tannins that create tension with a pleasing bitterness on the finish.

Aromas of sweet plums, cherries and sweet fruit compote introduce the 2022 Peymouton, a medium-bodied, soft and sun-kissed wine with an open palate and a relatively ephemeral finish. I suspect it will be at its best in the near term.
Based on 89% Merlot and the rest Cabernet Franc (with a splash of Cabernet Sauvignon), the 2022 Château Peymouton reveals a healthy ruby/plum hue as well as juicy aromatics of redcurrants, black cherries, leafy tobacco, and earth. It's medium-bodied, round, lush, and as charming and delicious as I've ever tasted from this address.
The 2022 Peymouton presents a lighter bouquet than I recall from the barrel, leaning more toward red fruit with a dark chocolate tincture. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins. It's quite fleshy and open with a soft mocha-tinged finish. This will drink earlier than I envisaged.
