Punteggio 87/100 · Da bere 2023-2038, Neal Martin, Mar 2021

The 2018 Lynsolence still displays the touch of overripeness on the nose that I remarked upon out of barrel. Now it is not quite as extreme, although there is a certain "flatness" when compared it directly with its peers. The palate is medium-bodied with sweet black plummy fruit laced with white pepper and sage, gaining a little density and more freshness toward the finish. It is actually better than I estimated from barrel, although I still would have liked more complexity and nuance on the nose. Two bottles tasted with consistent notes.

I loved the 2018 Lynsolence from barrel, and it doesn't disappoint from bottle, offering a bright, perfumed bouquet of blueberries, candied violets, chocolate, and graphite. This cuvée always shows a nicely oaked, richer, modern style yet it has wonderful Saint-Emilion chalky minerality, a stacked mid-palate, and beautiful length on the finish. Give this ripe, sexy 2018 3-4 years in the cellar and it should evolve for 10-15 years or more. I expect this to match the 2009 in terms of quality.

The 2018 Lynsolence is effusive and heady right from the first taste. Sweet spice, rose petal, mocha and raspberry jam explode out of the glass. Inky and full-throttle, Lynsolence is a rich, opulent Saint-Émilion that will drink well with minimal cellaring. The finish is just a touch dry. Otherwise, the 2018 is very nicely done.
