The 2010 Rabaud-Promis is quite deep in colour. It has an expressive nose with mandarin, candlewax and stem ginger aromas, perhaps needing a little more cohesion. The palate is well balanced, quite pretty with moderate levels of botrytis. A Sauternes of substance with an agreeable spicy finish. Fine. Tasted blind at Farr Vintners 10-Year On Bordeaux horizontal.
Medium lemon-gold colored, the nose of the 2010 Rabaud-Promis is a little oxidative and evolved, with notions of baked apples, stewed apricots and dried mango plus wafts of marzipan and marmalade. The palate has a good amount of evolution, with a pleasantly nutty character and a lively lift to the finish.
Tasted blind. Inviting aroma – honeyed bitter orange. Complex and openly aromatic. Lovely bitter-orange flavours too. Power and bite on the long finish. Needs time. No one else at this tasting seemed to like this as much as I did. (JH)
