Cru bourgeois exceptionnel. 63% Cabernet Sauvignon, 32% Merlot, 5% Petit Verdot, on a ridge of gravelly soil of Pyrenean origin dating from the Quaternary period. Yield 38 hl/ha. Aged for 12 months in oak barrels, one-third new, one-third 1 wine and one-third 2 wines. 63,000 bottles. Garnet with a brick rim. Concentrated black and blue fruit core, very well-integrated chalky tannins and lots of bright acidity. Very polished oak use. Pleasurable to drink now but will also age well. (FG)

I loved the 2019 Château Malescasse, and this beauty has loads of ripe dark cherry and currant fruits, notes of cigar box and cedar pencil, medium-bodied, richness, ripe tannins, and a great finish. It's beautifully done, and readers would love to have a case of this in the cellar for drinking over the coming 10-15 years. Bravo.
The 2019 Malescasse is a bit rustic but impossible not to like. Black cherry, iron, game, leather, espresso, licorice and tobacco are front and center. This Haut-Médoc Cru Bourgeois has plenty of character.
