Punteggio 90/100 · Jeb Dunnuck, Apr 2024

The second wine of the Château is the 2021 Chevalier De Lascombes, which is based on 50% Merlot and 50% Cabernet Sauvignon that spent 16 months in once-used oak. Its healthy ruby hue is followed by a beautiful 2021 offering bright cassis and ripe black cherry fruit supported by classic spice, tobacco, and gravelly earth notes. It's ripe, medium-bodied, has fine tannins, and an elegant style.

The 2021 Chevalier de Lascombes has a light blackberry nose with just a touch of briar and chalk. It needs a little more presence. The palate is medium-bodied with a sharp, citric entry. This is an angular Margaux with some hard edges that will need to soften with bottle age. So-so.

Underpowered on the opening notes, although it is packed with spiced cloves, raspberry and greengage plum, and leans into the vintage. 41hl/h yields, and a near-month long harvest stretching from September 29 to October 22.

The 2021 Chevalier de Lascombes offers light red cherries and strawberry fruit on the nose. The palate is medium-bodied with rounded tannins and fine acidity. This is quite cohesive with nicely integrated oak. A decent Deuxième Vin .
