Note di degustazione
Tasted blind. Deep crimson. Fresh, open blackcurrant aroma and touch of cassis leaf. Leafy on the palate, too, fresh, chewy but lively. Some might find it too green but I like its freshness. Touch of chocolate on the finish. (JH)

The 2020 Montviel has a lovely bouquet with blackberry, briar, and light loamy scents that unfold temptingly in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied and well balanced with fine tannins. Quite Left Bank in style (like one or two others in this flight), it's fresh and sapid on the finish. It needs time, but the potential is here, and it punches above my expectations from barrel. Tasted blind at the annual Southwold tasting.
Another brilliant Pomerol in the vintage, the 2020 Château Montviel has a pure, medium to full-bodied, vibrant profile carrying darker, almost blue, iron-tinged fruits, lots of violet, floral, and chocolate nuances, fine tannins, and outstanding length. This classic 2020 brings lots of ripe, sexy fruit and texture yet stays balanced and seamless, with a real sense of elegance. Drink bottles over the coming 10-15 years. It's every bit as good as the 2019.
