Note di degustazione
The 2018 Côte de Nuits Village underwent a slightly longer maceration than the 2019. It has a heady bouquet of black cherries and boysenberry jam. The palate is medium-bodied with tarry black fruit and a lot of weight and density, but the finish is missing some precision and tension. Just a bit heavy-handed.

The 2018 Côte de Nuits-Villages is Julien's largest and most emblematic cuvée, amounting to fully half the domaine's production. Bursting with notes of cherries, strawberries, espresso roast and forest floor, it's medium to full-bodied, fleshy and gourmand and will offer a broad drinking window. This is a dramatic, textural wine that exemplifies the elegantly modern style that Etienne Julien has mastered.
Tank sample. Mid smudgy crimson. Ripe and spicy cherry. A bit light on fruit in the middle, so the tannins dominate a little for now. On the leaner end of the spectrum but in balance. (JH)
