1986 La Tour Blanche

When I tasted this wine from cask I thought it would be better. But it has turned out to be a relatively straightforward, compact, monolithic-styled Sauternes, with good fruit, but without the great underlying depth and evidence of botrytis one normally sees in this vintage. It should provide good but uninspired drinking for another decade or more. Anticipated maturity: Now-2003. Last tasted, 3/90.
