1970 Filhot

The 1970 Filhot has a respectable nose for the vintage with fresh lanolin, dried quince and orange blossom aromas. The palate is showing some dryness and decay on the entry, although you sense that this was once one of the better 1970 Sauternes. It just feels as if the fruit is ebbing away and it attenuates quite severely on the finish. Drink up soon if you have any bottles. Tasted at the vertical tasting at Château Filhot.
