1996 Filhot

An elegant, medium-bodied wine with scents of quince, orange marmalade, and pineapple presented in a moderately-endowed aromatic profile, this Sauternes displays moderate sweetness, excellent ripeness and purity, and a tasty, harmonious personality. Drink it over the next 10-15 years.

Fairly pale color. Swampy and herbal on the nose. Has some viscosity but marred by a bitter edge. Strong dose of SO2 makes this impossible to taste. A year ago my sample also showed a dank quality and a bitterness reminiscent of insecticide.
