A fleshy, open-knit Saint-Émilion from sandy soils, the 2020 Daugay offers up aromas of minty berries and raw cocoa, followed by a medium to full-bodied, supple and giving palate. It's an attractive, bistro-style wine that will drink well young.

The 2020 Daugay has a very perfumed, floral bouquet with dark cherries, cassis and light cedar scents emerging with time, an underlying mintiness becoming more prominent. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins, fresh and focused, with a lively and quite tensile finish. This is worth seeking out.
This is spiced and toasty with ripe dark fruit, chocolate, walnut and wet stones. Some tobacco, too. Full-bodied with ripe, juicy tannins and a succulent berry character. Shows complexity and length. Velvety finish. 82% merlot and 18% cabernet. Try after 2024.
The 2020 Daugay has quite a rich, black plum and black currant nose, a little tight at first, although it is well defined and pure. The palate is medium-bodied, quite structured and dense, displaying a bit of sinew and gentle but insistent grip toward the saline finish. I actually like its standoffish personality at this stage. A Saint-Émilion Grand Cru that will demand perhaps 4–5 years of cellaring before it starts to drink well.
