Punteggio 89/100 · Da bere 2025-2040, Neal Martin, Feb 2024

The 2021 La Gurgue has an open nose with slightly savory black fruit, wet clay and touches of chalk coming through with time. The palate is medium-bodied with soft tannins on the entry and moderate depth, but the finish feels a little smudged—it needs to muster a touch more clarity and address some bitterness. Give it a couple of years in bottle.

Punteggio 91/100 · Da bere 2024-2038, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Feb 2024

The 2021 La Gurgue is a bold, juicy Margaux endowed with tons of fruit presence and plenty of immediacy. Succulent dark red cherry, blood orange, spice, mint and tobacco all meld together. La Gurgue is a fine choice for drinking now and over the next decade or so.

Punteggio 89/100 · Da bere 2025-2037, William Kelley, Wine Advocate, Feb 2024

Containing an unusually high 19% Petit Verdot, the 2021 La Gurgue offers up aromas of dark berries, cherries, iris and paraffin wax, followed by a medium to full-bodied, rich and fleshy palate that's supple and giving, built around powdery structuring tannins.

Punteggio 89-91/100 · Da bere 2025-2040, Neal Martin, May 2022

The 2021 La Gurgue, which contains 19% Petit Verdot from a massal selection, is aged in 60% barrels and 40% ovoid vats for a planned 12 months. The estate is are now eschewing used oak and aging in concrete eggs/vats instead. This has a fragrant, precise bouquet of blackberry, blue fruit and a touch of crushed stone. The palate is medium-bodied with chalky tannins, fine depth and gentle grip on the tobacco-tinged finish. Very classic in style.
