Punteggio 90/100 · Da bere 2023-2045, William Kelley, Wine Advocate, Oct 2022

A terrific wine, the 2018 La Gurgue unfurls in the glass with rich aromas of blackberries and cherries mingled with subtle hints of spices and charcoal. Medium to full-bodied, broad and fleshy, with lively acids and powdery structuring tannins, it's unusually muscular for this estate without forsaking its quintessentially elegant, seamless style. While it can be approached young, at least a few more years in the cellar will pay dividends.

Punteggio 93/100 · Da bere 2023-2038, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Mar 2021

The 2018 La Gurgue is one of the little jewels of Margaux. Pliant, supple and inviting, the 2018 has so much to offer. All the elements are wonderfully fused together. Ripe red cherry, blood orange, mint and sweet floral notes all build as this racy Margaux shows off its sensuality and charm. Mildew was especially severe, and yields were just 12 hectoliters per hectare, but the wine is superb. The blend is 57% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot and 8% Petit Verdot.

This is dense and layered with a velvety texture and very rich palate. Powerful yet fresh. Creamy and minerally. Unique Gurgue. From biodynamically grown grapes.

The 2018 La Gurgue is rich, deep and fleshy, with quite a bit more density than is the norm. Ripe red berry/plum fruit, spice, cedar, wild flowers and tobacco develop in the glass, but it is the wine's sheer textural richness that stands out most. Mildew was especially severe here, with yields of just 12 hectoliters per hectare. I can't wait to taste this from bottle. The blend is 57% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot and 8% Petit Verdot.
