Tasted blind. Blackish crimson. Quite intensely ripe – hint of black cherry. Something reminiscent of a confectioner here and some very obvious alcohol and heat on the end. Too much so for comfort. (JR)

The 2015 Grandes Murailles is medium garnet-purple with a nose of sautéed herbs, tilled soil and mossy bark over a core of warm red and black cherries plus a hint of pencil lead. The full-bodied palate is firm and chewy with plenty of earthy expression and good length.
The 2015 Les Grandes Murailles shows its typical flavor profile, but, as is the case with so many wines this year, everything is ampled up. Blueberry, plum, crème de cassis and lavender abound. Les Grandes Murailles is typically a bit more lifted and ethereal in style, but in 2015 it is quite a bit fleshier and also less aromatically expressive than is typical. The 2015 is a big Grandes Murailles that is going to need time to shed some baby fat. I imagine it will always remain on the exuberant side of things.
