Punteggio 94/100 · Da bere 2022-2037, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Mar 2020

A sleeper in this vintage, the 2017 de Pressac is deep, plush and wonderfully expressive, with a bit more finesse than I have seen here in the past. The 2017 possesses terrific energy to match its translucent personality. Sweet floral, blood orange and spice nuances add striking aromatic top notes, The 2017 is pure class. Pressac remains one of Saint-Émilion's under the radar gems. The 2017 is pure class. Tasted three times.

Medium to deep garnet-purple colored, the 2017 Pressac bursts from the glass with bold black cherries, plum preserves and warm blueberry scents plus wafts of garrigue, tobacco and new leather. Medium-bodied, the palate is energetic and refreshing with bags of crunchy black fruit and a soft texture, finishing with lovely purity.

The 2017 Chateau De Pressac checks in as 74% Merlot, 16% Cabernet Franc, and the rest Sauvignon. Its deeper ruby color is followed by a medium-bodied, elegant Saint-Emilion that has wonderful cassis and red currant fruits as well as classic notes of chocolate, tobacco, and damp earth. It's nicely balanced, has the vintage's elegant, straight style, and offers loads to love.

The 2017 de Pressac was not affected by frost and was green harvested because of the potentially large crop. Matured in 50% new oak, it has a well defined bouquet with nicely integrated oak: blackberry, raspberry and light cedar scents developing in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, not a deep Saint-Émilion but harmonious with a smooth, dark chocolate tinged finish that lingers nicely in the mouth. Maybe it just misses a little length but it is a well made Château de Pressac.
