Tasted blind. Deep crimson. Smells dark, spicy and rich. Powerful and smooth tannins and just enough fruit to fill them out. Fresh, refreshing. (JH)

The 2020 Branas Grand Poujeaux is very composed on the nose with some lovely brambly red fruit, briar, touches of undergrowth and cedar. The oak is very well integrated here. The palate is medium-bodied with sapid black fruit, iodine and white pepper. There is an approachability to this Moulis-en-Médoc that makes it very appealing, though it has the substance to age. Tasted blind at the annual Southwold tasting.
Full bottle 1,262 g. Certified HVE. 60% Merlot, 35% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Petit Verdot. Raspberry and crushed-pine-needles aromas. Juicy, ripe fruit with a dab of liquorice, wrapped in rubber ribbons of tannins. Easy, open and fruit-forward. Early drinking. (TC)
