The 2021 Poesia has a very well-defined bouquet with a touch more harmony than its stablemate, Barde-Haut: heightened red cherry and iodine scents, quite floral in style. The palate is medium-bodied with crunchy red fruit, a vibrant and vivacious Saint-Émilion driven by the limestone terroir. Sapid on the finish, this is very fine.

The 2021 Poesia is a deep, layered wine. Dark cherry, plum, white pepper, mint, dried flowers and herbs fill out the layers nicely. The 2021 is a pretty wine, even with some vegetal notes from the 30% Franc in the blend. Clean limestone veins support the finish. This needs time.
The 2021 Poesia is a blend of all the parcels this year because the quality was so uniform, harvested over three days, October 7–9. It has a touch more fruit concentration than the Barde-Haut, featuring dark berries, crushed stone and a touch of melted tar. The palate is medium-bodied with crunchy black fruit, a slightly granular texture, gentle grip and hints of brown spices and white pepper toward the finish. Give this Poesia three to four years in bottle.
The 2021 Poesia is a firm, closed Saint-Émilion endowed with quite a bit of energy and sheer power. Dark fruit and brooding shades of gravel, spice, menthol and licorice give Poesia its distinctive personality. The tannins are a bit imposing at this stage. Élevage will be crucial here.
