The 2020 Clos Floridène seems to have addressed that bit of overripeness on the nose observed from barrel, with red plum, blackcurrant and light cedar scents. The palate is medium-bodied with slightly coarse tannins, balanced but not complex, a touch of black pepper on the finish. Fine.
The 2020 Clos Floridène is terrific. Bright and punchy to the core, the 2020 offers up crushed red berry fruit, mocha, espresso and licorice, with pretty floral and savory nuances woven throughout. This mid-weight, vibrant Graves has a lot to offer. The tannins remain a bit edgy, so a few years in bottle are warranted.
This is tasty, with an appealing smack of damson, black cherry, cocoa bean, cola, liquorice and fennel. Plenty of textured, grainy tannins, savoury but with real character; One of the values of the vintage, Jean-Jacques Dubourdieu is doing an excellent job of continuing the work of his late father Denis. Ambassadeur de Graves, with a new winery as of this 2020 vintage.
