Punteggio 92/100 · Da bere 2020-2028, Josh Raynolds, Jun 2019

Brilliant red. Highly perfumed, spice-accented aromas of dark berries and cherry pit, with violet, musky rhubarb and woodsmoke flourishes building in the glass. Offers bitter cherry, black raspberry, floral pastille and spicecake flavors that show very good concentration. A snap of juicy acidity provides back-end lift. The cherry and floral notes build steadily through a very long, penetrating finish that's supported by chewy, slow-mounting tannins. (33% new French oak)

The fruit for this cuvée comes from a diverse range of AVAs within Oregon. Rich but not sickly. Maybe very slightly exaggerated with quite marked tannins. Far from the mellow mode of Pinot but ambitious and well intentioned. (JR)

Really lovely cherries and brambly raspberries, graphite and red flowers on the nose, leading to a rich and dark, deep, plush and spicy palate that has a very pure core of satiny, silky fruit flavor. Drink now.

Fruit sourced widely throughout Willamette Valley, almost exclusively from biodynamic, organic and LIVE vineyards. One-third new French oak, two-thirds used oak. 3,000 cases made, by Jean-Nicolas Méo and Tracy Kendall. Picked at 23.4 Brix. Fairly dark garnet. Intensely aromatic with great purity of fruit well balanced by fresh acidity. This would take some light cooling. Already a pleasure with impressive persistence. (JR)
