Punteggio 92/100 · Da bere 2022-2039, Josh Raynolds, Oct 2021

Vivid ruby-red. Spice-accented red and blue fruits and candied flowers on the expressive nose. Juicy, open-knit raspberry and boysenberry flavors become livelier as the wine opens up. Shows very good clarity and lift on the long, smooth finish, which features supple tannins and resonating red fruit character.

The 2018 Châteauneuf Du Pape is the classic cuvée of the estate and is based on 55% Grenache, 25% Syrah, 15% Mourvèdre, and the balance Cinsault that was raised mostly in concrete tank. It’s certainly worthy of a case purchase and has a gorgeous perfume of kirsch and blackberry fruits as well as loads of spiced meat, charcuteries, flowers, and garrigue. Medium to full-bodied, round, and elegant on the palate, it has the more front end-loaded style of the vintage, sweet tannins, and a great finish. It’s going to drink well for at least 10-12 years.

Hints of cinnamon and clove accent dark, plummy fruit on the nose of the 2018 Chateauneuf du Pape. Showing the domaine's characteristic ripeness and opulence, it's plush and broad in the mouth, even a bit creamy textured, then finishes on notes of Mexican chocolate. Produced from tiny yields of approximately 15 hectoliters per hectare, it should drink well for at least a decade.
