Sporting a saturated ruby/purple color, the 2016 Château Gombaude-Guillot comes from gravelly clay soils and is 75% Merlot and 25% Cabernet Franc brought up in 50% new French oak. Medium to full-bodied, focused, and straight, it offers attractive notes of blue and black fruits, barbecue smoke, spice, and truffle. It’s clean and balanced, yet drops off on the finish, and also stays tight and compact on the palate. Give it a few years.

The 2016 Gombaude Guillot offers pleasant black fruit laced with undergrowth and pressed flower scents, although I would like more delineation to manifest with time. The nicely poised palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, a fine line of acidity and hints of black pepper and clove toward the finish. A delightful Pomerol from this biodynamic estate.
The sweet and fragrant fruit sucks you into this lush but well-structured Pomerol with a long and finely delineated, velvety finish. A blend of 80 per cent merlot and 20 per cent cabernet franc. From biodynamically grown grapes. Biodyvin certified.
