The 2019 Plince has a well-defined nose of blackberry, blueberry and quite potent incense/potpourri aromas that flourish with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with firm tannins, and quite strict and linear, perhaps displaying just a bit of hardness toward the briny finish. Afford this 3–4 years in bottle – it has more to give.
The 2019 Plince is a burly, rustic Pomerol. There is certainly a good bit of depth, but the tannins are coarse and very much present in the wine's overall feel. Dark cherry, plum, leather, licorice and game build into the hearty, resonant finish.
81% Merlot, 19% Cabernet Franc. Lighter weight and frame but fresh and with polished tannins. Blueberry notes with a distinct vanilla edge. Oak helps fill the mid palate but there’s a slightly drying finish. (JL)
