Tasted blind. Shaded crimson. Oaky, extracted cassis-liqueur nose, which some will like. Very flashy! But a bit drying on the end. (JR)

The 2021 Haut-Marbuzet has gained some exuberance since I tasted the barrel sample. Today it’s very pure and quite seductive, with black cherry and blueberry fruit and hints of vanilla pod emerging with time. The palate is medium-bodied with fleshy, ripe fruit and a fine bead of acidity, but perhaps it just misses a little complexity on the finish. Otherwise, I have no complaints about this Haut-Marbuzet at all.
The 2021 Haut-Marbuzet has turned out nicely, wafting from the glass with aromas of dark berries, cigar wrapper and vanilla pod, followed by a medium to full-bodied, fleshy palate that's suave and layered, with a succulent core of fruit framed by powdery tannins. It will offer a broad, charming drinking window.
Savoury and low in alcohol, very much old school in character, with estate signature. Sappy, enjoyably fresh even if there are undeniable bell pepper and raspberry leaf notes, warmed up with grilled oak and clove, aniseed and fennel spice. 45hl/h yield. Harvest September 24 to October 13. Famille Dubosq. Tasted twice, one point upscore.
