Punteggio 87/100 · Da bere 2018-2030, Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, Nov 2016

Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting in Beaune, the 2013 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Les Chaumes was suggesting some stem addition on the nose, although to my knowledge none are added. Still, there is fine definition with touches of autumn leaves and undergrowth infusing the brambly red berry fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with crisp tannin, brown spices and rather fatigued fruit. It feels ... bedraggled on the finish. Not sure if this is correct, but on the other, I found this perplexing when I tasted it from barrel. Tasted September 2016.

Saturated fresh red. An element of meaty reduction currently dominates the nose. Soil-driven strawberry and smoke flavors are saline and silky but quite reduced. Today, the Vosne villages is projecting more fruit while this one is going through an awkward phase. But the tannins are already fine-grained.
