Original vines planted in the early 1970s. Racy, Puligny-like. Really refined and nervy with a little bit of matchstick reduction. Needs time but impressive ambition! (JR)

Sandhi's 2013 Chardonnay Sanford & Benedict comes across as diluted in this vintage, with less of the texture and personality than is typical from this site. The 2013 is pretty, but also lacking in depth and a bit diluted.
Coming from the oldest vines in the appellation, the 2013 Chardonnay Sanford & Benedict is a gorgeous Chardonnay that offers lots of mineral and oyster shell characteristics to go with ripe stone fruits, white flower and brioche. Elegant, juicy, already approachable and layered, with the most texture of the bunch, it's a terrific wine to drink over the coming 4-5 years.
