Punteggio 93/100 · Da bere 2020-2025, Luis Gutiérrez, Wine Advocate, Feb 2020

I had not tasted the 2008 Duque D'A Cabernet Sauvignon before, a wine that was produced with 100% new oak. But it is from a cooler year and has absorbed the oak quite well. It's ready for prime-time drinking and was a very good surprise. This was the first vintage for this bottling.

The only geographical indication is Concepción. Liger-Belair, Massoc and Parra joint venture (they also make a Chardonnay but it had been drained by previous tasters). Bright ruby. Very obviously Chilean on the nose – that hint of greenness plus sweetness. Good balance though and lovely round texture, dusty finish after a sweet, green start. Quite vibrant. Suspect this is overpriced..! (JR)

Punteggio 90/100 · Da bere 2012-2017, Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, Dec 2012

Sourced from vineyard located at 900 meters altitude in Cachapoal, there are just 250 cases of the 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon. It has a generous, ripe bouquet with intense aromas of strawberry jam. The opulence and generosity of the nose actually fools you, because the palate has a tannic backbone and drier finish than expected. The finish offers strawberry and a touch of spice, although it does not have the same complexity as the Chardonnay 2008. Still, this is a fine Cabernet to drink over 4-5 years. From Louis-Michel Liger-Belair in Vosne (Burgundy) comes Aristos Duquesa, a joint-Chilean venture with Francois Massoc and Pedro Parra. No known US importer, but available through Justerini & Brooks (UK).
