Saturated deep ruby. Crushed black fruits and minerals on the lively nose. The densest and richest of these 2006s, with a compelling sweetness to its extremely primary dark fruit and bitter chocolate flavors. Not yet complex but has terrific stuffing to support its big, chewy, broad tannins. Lay this one down.

The inky/ruby/purple-colored 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon Mt. Veeder exhibits a sumptuous nose of charcoal, burning embers, incense, black currant liqueur, blueberries, and hints of espresso roast and white chocolate. A sensationally concentrated, dense, full-bodied effort with high levels of sweet tannin, decent acidity, and a stunningly layered mouthfeel, this is a profound Cabernet Sauvignon to drink between 2012-2030+. While this is one of the most stunning wineries in Jess Jackson's portfolio, production is very limited, making the wines difficult to find. Production in 2006 ranged from 158 cases of the Diamond Mountain, to 669 cases of the Mt. Veeder (which happens to be my favorite). Lokoya's wines are made by talented winemaker Christopher Carpenter, who also makes the wines at Cardinale.
