Punteggio 94/100 · Da bere 2025-2038, Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, Jan 2018

(the yield here was 32 hectoliters per hectare, from vines planted in 1942 and 1943; vinified with 50% whole clusters): Bright, full red. High-pitched aromas of raspberry, rose petal and spices; neither overripe nor reduced. Wonderfully silky, concentrated wine with a captivating sweetness leavened by lovely energy and mineral precision. Plush and deep but without any excesses. This utterly suave, seamless wine's raspberry fruit is nicely lifted by its floral element on the broad, very long finish. A wine of finesse, but it also has considerable reserves to support a graceful and long evolution in bottle.

The 2015 Echézeaux is fabulous. Dense, pliant and alluring, the 2015 possesses striking depth. The 50% new oak is already very nicely integrated. Polished, silky tannins add to the wine's refined personality. Floral and spice overtones, along with the lively acidity that informs all the wines, extend the finish in this exceptionally beautiful, vivid Echézeaux. - Antonio Galloni

The 2015 Echézeaux Grand Cru contains 50% whole cluster fruit and 50% whole bunch. It has a very impressive bouquet with red and black fruit, fine mineralité and scents of crushed rose petal emerging with time. The palate is medium-bodied with silky smooth tannin, a silver bead of acidity, plenty of spice on the tip of the tongue and very good structure towards the finish. This serves up everything you could really want from an Echézeaux. This is superb.

50% whole bunch. Quite wild and intense on the nose. Not quite as intensely fruity on the palate as the nose suggests it will be. Better behaved and less wild. Lots of structure and substance. Neat and correct. Long. (JR)
