The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Pedregal Vineyard is in a wonderful spot for drinking right now. Blended with 15% Petit Verdot, it has a deep garnet color and beautiful aromas of truffle, pipe tobacco, graphite and blackcurrants—if you could smell umami, this would be it! The medium-bodied palate is soft and refreshing and still boasts a deep core of savory fruit that calls you in for another sip.

The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Pedregal Vineyard has turned out beautifully. It is also much more accessible young than I expected, despite its considerable size. Bright red stone fruit and pomegranate notes are pushed forward. There is plenty of tannin, but it is nearly buried by the sheer intensity of the fruit. There is plenty of stuffing and potential here.
A huge, powerful wine, the 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Pedregal Vineyard bursts onto the palate with intense dark fruit, sage, mint, tobacco, new leather and spice, all backed up by imposing tannins that are going to need quite a bit of time to soften. Vivid and chiseled to the core, the 2013 is shaping up to be a gem. The 2013 includes quite a bit of Petit Verdot (14%), which gives the wine much of its brooding intensity.
