1997 Mazis Chambertin

Ruby-red, not darker than the above. Higher-pitched, more fruit-driven blackberry and licorice nose, with sweet oak and a hint of exotic fruits. Higher-pitched and less sweet today, with a stronger impression of structure and more sharply delineated flavors. Subtle and stylish. Finer than the Fontenys, but hard to assess today.
