(50% new oak, as there were only two barrels of this juice): Healthy dark red. Spicy scents of crushed blackberry, violet and pungent licorice pastille. Broad, fine-grained and pliant, with dark berry and licorice flavors dominating. Deeper than the village wine but comes across as rather oaky today, finishing with some apparent wood tannins. Today I prefer the balance and gulpability of the village wine.

The 2015 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Aux Combottes, the domaine's smallest cru at just two barrels, has a refined and graceful bouquet with pure red cherry, cranberry and wild hedgerow scents that feel just natural and composed. The palate is a little stern on the entry, a more structured and masculine Chambolle-Musigny, but again, with a fine line of acidity, plenty of dark berry fruit laced with sea salt on the finish and displaying fine length (albeit strict from start to finish). One for those that like discipline in their 2015s!
